Wanted to Give More of Your Money to Presidential Library Funds
You know who can afford to give money to presidential libraries? Rich donors.
HB 5616 seeks to establish the Texas Presidential Library Promotion Program to be administered by the Texas Historical Commission. The program is designed to support and promote the three presidential libraries located in Texas: the Lyndon B. Johnson Library and Museum in Austin, the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum in College Station, and the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum in Dallas.
Bewilderingly, the fiscal note for this bill says both "No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated" and "The bill would create the Texas Presidential Library Promotion Fund to be used for the program, and would consist of Legislative appropriations..."
Define "significant." Don't you have important ambitions that you want to fund in your life? We feel pretty certain that a presidential library isn't one of them.
